About Me

I am a fifth-generation Oklahoman with more than 20 years of experience in Washington as a trusted communications advisor to executives and elected leaders.

My career began in a Tulsa newsroom, and in the years since I have worked at the intersection of government, communications, and public accountability, giving me an unusual vantage point on how policy gets made, and how officials talk about it, and often do not. I served on Capitol Hill as Communications Director to U.S. Representatives Tillie K. Fowler and Jennifer Dunn, and later led communications and was the spokesperson for two independent panels, one created by Congress to investigate misconduct at the U.S. Air Force Academy and the other convened by the Secretary of Defense to investigate detainee abuse abroad.

I built a 15-year independent consulting practice advising some of Washington's most prominent institutions and nonprofits on reputation and crisis communications. That work included developing and holding a brand protection strategy for one of nation's most prominent lobbying firms as The Washington Post published a 27-part series profiling its founder, one of the most extensive investigative profiles the paper has ever run.

For the past five years, I have served as Director of Brand and Strategic Communications at HB Strategies, a national government affairs firm, where I report directly to the CEO and lead communications strategy across a 12-office national footprint.

I earned a bachelor's in broadcast journalism from the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University.
